Farafra Location
The Farafra Oasis is located northwest of El Dakhla, near the ruins of Kasr El Farafrah, Kasr Abou Monkara, and El Bagawat Cemetery, 350 miles in the Western Desert, and is bordered by a limestone escarpment. An oasis entirely planted with olive and apricot trees, this is a community of about 3000 Bedouins who live in small earthen houses, mostly painted blue to ward off, according to a belief, evil spirits.
Some are instead decorated with depictions of animals. In the past millennia, when the climate was more favorable, what today is an oasis known for its deep attachment to traditions and for the simplicity of its ways of life, was famous as the “land of the pharaohs’ cows”.
In this place, you can immerse yourself in highly suggestive and uncontaminated landscapes, which convey a great feeling of peace and freedom. Farafra is located near the famous White Desert, characterized by the presence of fossiliferous limestone stacks, eroded by the wind in bizarre shapes that emerge from the yellow sands of the desert, giving the landscape a unique aspect.

How to get there
