Itinerary

6 Days – Esna / Aswan Every Monday

Day 1: Monday: Esna

Upon your arrival at Luxor Airport / Luxor train station, you will be welcomed and assisted by your Egypt Time Travel tour manager, then you will be guided by your Egyptologist Guide for a visit to Esna. Esna is known for the small ancient temple of Khnoum, which is located 9 meters below the street level of the city. Your journey will begin with a short walk to the temple and a tour through streets filled with beautiful textile goods and other exotic products.

Overnight in Esna aboard your boat on the Nile.

Day 2: Tuesday: El Kab and Edfu

While we sleep, we gently navigate our way to El Kab, on the east bank of the Nile. This city was once the capital of Upper Egypt and is still home to the Nekhbet Temple, as well as a row of fascinating decorated tombs dug into the slope of the mountains. Once at the quay, you embark on a beautiful stroll through a small fishing village to visit the necropolis. In the afternoon, the boat will arrive in Edfu, which houses the Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the god Horus. It is one of the best-preserved Egyptian temples. Horse and carriage will take you to the temple through the lively streets of the city.

After returning to the boat, you embark on a beautiful island.

Day 3: Wednesday: Sail & Swim

It is a day dedicated to the river: immediately after an optional morning walk and breakfast, you will notice In the afternoon, you will stop on an island for a walk or to swim in the Nile. At dusk, it may be possible to walk in the desert along a valley lined with rocks covered with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and Stone Age inscriptions. These images mark the beginning of the shortest route across the desert to Libya (28 days in ancient times).

At night, the boat moored at the foot of the lighted temple of Gebel Silsileh.

Day 4: Thursday: Gebel Silsileh

Here, the Nile, which flows between two mountain ranges, is the narrowest. You will usually be the only visitors to this fascinating site, as the great Nile cruises are not allowed to stop here. After visiting the small temple of Horemheb and strolling through the sandstone quarries, where the ancient Egyptians carved stone for many of their most famous temples, you will visit a picturesque café to enjoy tea and chicha (water pipe).

You then sail to a picturesque shoreline where you’ll stop for lunch and a swim.

Day 5: Friday: Kom Ombo

After a night on the water and under the stars, the morning trip will take you to the city and the temple of Kom Ombo. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic period on the site of an older temple and in one of the most beautiful places on a bend in the river. The temple was dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile-headed god. After enjoying the temple, you will visit the new Crocodile Museum, which contains many mummified crocodiles, testifying to the importance that the creature played in this area in ancient times.

Day 6: Saturday: Aswan

Breakfast on board your boat Dahabiya Nile, then transfer to Aswan airport / Aswan railway station for final departure.
